Hyderabad, 19th June 2019: GMR Aero Technic Ltd. (GATL), a world class integrated third party independent airframe Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) service provider at Hyderabad Airport has won the 1st place in the prestigious CII Southern Region 5S Excellence Award 2018-19, under ‘Large Scale Industry- Service category’. The winning team of GATL received the award trophy during a glittering ceremony organized on 14th of June, 2019 at Chennai.

Commenting on this achievement, Mr. Ashok Gopinath, CEO, GATL, said, “This award is an acknowledgement of our focus on continuous improvement and incessant efforts in establishing a well-organised and streamlined work area at GATL.  We have deployed 5S, which is a five-step workplace organization technique, across the facility, making the shop floor clutter-free, well-organised and clean. This effort has led to a holistic and visible transformation in service quality, customer satisfaction, enhanced efficiency and safety of the organization. We thank CII for recognising us with this award."

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern Region organizes the 5S Excellence Award annually to motivate and recognize member companies which successfully implement and sustain 5S practices in their organization.

External 5S auditors from CII visited GATL during the month of April 2019 and audited Hangars, Stores, Workshop, Utility other areas. The audit was quite intensive and an eye opener in terms of expectations of next level of 5S requirements. The audit also involved assessment of ‘Waste Management Process’.
