This Airport Project is based on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, which is based on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis. GMR Airports Limited, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Ltd, will Develop, Operate and Manage the New International Airport of Heraklion at Crete in partnership with Greek infrastructure major TERNA S.A. (100% subsidiary of GEK TERNA Group).

The Group is also developing two Special Investment Regions at Krishnagiri and Kakinada and India’s largest Smart Airport City near Hyderabad International Airport.

GMR Group, through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, carries out community-based development initiatives at 25 different locations in the areas of education; health, hygiene and sanitation; empowerment and livelihoods; and community development.
