GHIAL Community Service Activities

Community service activities for GHIAL started in 2005, 3 years before RGIA was operational. It is spearheaded by a team of trained social-work professionals.

Today, Varalakshmi Foundation manages intensive developmental activities in 6 villages and provides need based services to more than 23 villages surrounding RGIA.

Our vision is to provide sustainable growth and empower local communities through grass root level initiatives in education, health and vocational training.

Mandate and Coverage

With this vision as the focus, intensive activities are taken up in 6 villages, while various other extension services are spread in 23 villages around the airport. The span of activities cover the most significant areas of education, health and livelihoods, with need-based programmes being implemented in each thrust area.

Samreen fulfils her dream

A bright and deserving child reaches her potential

Samreen Fatima was born and brought up in Shamshabad Village. Her parents did not have a formal education. Samreen has four siblings. The family lives in a rented mud house in Shamshabad.

Samreen studied till Std. 4 in the Govt. Primary Urdu medium school at Shamshabad. The Gifted Children Committee spotted this bright girl and selected her for the scheme in 2008, and admitted her in GMR Chinmaya Vidyalaya.

She set her goal to become an engineer right from the start. Apart from paying for her educational expenses, GHIAL CSR supported her with additional academic support through evening tuitions, regular counseling, career guidance and support.

Samreen was enthusiastic about this opportunity and excelled in her academic performance against all the odds. After intermediate, she got a good EAMCET rank and a free seat in a reputed engineering college to pursue Mechanical Engineering. She is now in the third year of her Mechanical Engineering.

GMR Chinmaya Vidyalaya

English medium CBSE School provides affordable education for children in the vicinity. Since 2008 GMR Chinmaya Vidyalaya has been consistently scoring 100% results in 10th board exam

Provides

Gifted Children Scheme

  • Fully funded education scholarships for under-privileged gifted children from surrounding villages. Currently, 124 students are sponsored from Kindergarten to various degree courses
