GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), has bagged the Center for Asia Pacific Aviation’s (CAPA) newly instituted award in the category, “Best Airport Environmental Performance of the Year”.

The award was received last night by Mr.G.Radhakrishna Babu, Chief Financial Officer, GHIAL in Beijing, China, at a ceremony that was held as part of the sixth annual Asia Aviation Outlook summit, showcasing airline and airport CEOs from around the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions.

The citation which was read out by Mr.Peter Harbison, Executive Chairman, Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, states, “GHIAL is to be commended for incorporating sustainability in the airport development, as a result of which the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is the first airport in Asia to achieve a LEED Silver certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design from the US Green Building Council. This sets a benchmark for other airports in the region to follow”.

Mr.P.Sripathy, CEO of GHIAL, said that, “this award recognizes the fact that each and everyone at GHIAL is conscious of his duty towards conserving and protecting the environment. Such recognition will further encourage us to raise the bar for our sustainability initiatives, even as we continue to provide quality service and customer delight to all our guests in the coming months.”
